We are excited to feature the Third Annual Great Cloth Diaper Change, Knoxville! Starting as an incredible grass-roots effort to raise awareness for cloth diapering, this record breaking event has grown exponentially! The Guinness World Record for most simultaneous cloth diaper changes was set in 2011 at 5,026. The Knoxville site counted 26 of those. Last year we not only broke that record, we smashed it. With 8,251 participants worldwide, and Knoxville quadrupled our numbers with 100 participants! We are expecting this year’s event to surpass the new record as well. With the efforts of The Real Diaper Association, Fluff n’ Stuff Natural Parenting Store, and many local and national sponsors, we welcome this global event to Knoxville!

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
The doors will open at 9:45 am, The Change starts promptly at 11amEST. GuinnessTM rules mandate that all participants (across the globe!) must be changing their diapers at precisely 11:00 in their time zone , so it is crucial that you arrive in plenty of time to get checked in and be ‘in place’ for the actual diaper change.
WHAT TYPE OF DIAPER CAN BE USED?
Any 100% reusable cloth diaper can be used, so long as it can be purchased online or at a physical retail store. This includes Work At Home Mom cloth diapers, as long as they can be purchased online or in a physical retail store. The GuinnessTM requirements do not allow for diapers that are homemade if they are not sold online or at a physical store. When you arrive for the event your baby can be in a disposable or a cloth diaper. Your baby must, however, be changed into a 100% reusable cloth diaper that is commercially available. Please note, “100% reusable” means that if you are using a hybrid style diaper you must use it with a washable insert, not a disposable insert.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?
- A changing pad, plus any other accessories you’ll need to perform a diaper change (wipes, wet bag, etc)
- Another parent, friend, or family member to watch other children that will not be participating, while the actual change is taking place.
WHAT OTHER GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED BY GUINNESSTM FOR THE PARTICIPANTS?
All babies and toddlers must be 39” or shorter, and each baby must be paired with exactly one adult participant, 18 years of age or older. During the change, only one child per parent is allowed in the official changing area. All other siblings and spectators must be on the perimeter of the designated area.
ARE WE SETTING A RECORD OR BREAKING ONE?
This year we are breaking one! In 2011 we set the record at 5,026 babies changed into a cloth diaper at the same time. We broke the record in 2012 with 8,251. We are looking to smash that record again!
DO I NEED TO PRE-REGISTER?
Due to space and time constraints pre-registration is advised. You can save yourself time by pre-registering because you will simply have to ‘check in’ upon arrival, rather than having to fill out the registration form. If space is available on the day of the event, onsite registration will be accepted but cannot be guaranteed! Also, you’ll want to pre-register to reserve your goodie bag… see the next question!
